I had a 500 hour magneto inspection where they replaced the internal parts. 27 hours later, while 400 miles from home, the right gear lost most of its teeth. I had followed a friend up here to give him a ride home... We are going home in a rental car.

It happened during a mag check and ran fine for the flight up here. It looks like the dual mag could have had loose teeth fall into the other side and kill both.

Is there an option for mag plus electric ignition or for an O540 that has true dual mag units?
