Anyone reworked the main struts on an Arrow?

My concern is getting the orifice tube out and back in - without removing the upper part of the strut.
1. Can the tube be removed and replaced by simply removing the nut, or does the tube have to be kept from rotating when the nut is removed?
2. When reinserting the tube, is it difficult to get the top end stabbed back into the hole? Did you use some form of tool?

Any tips are greatly appreciated!
