Looking to buy a SL40, 97Y, VAL 2000 or similar unit.

Bart, consider an SL60 gpscom. It contains the same com and display as the SL40 and SL30 and fits in the same tray. It has a decent gps (though it is only enroute IFR certified). Garmin is still maintaining them and you can probably get one for about the same price as the SL40.

I think he is putting in an 89b, so the gps would be redundant. But if its the same price, it comes down to install cost.

Already bought the 89B setup. Im satisfied with the purchase 50/55/60/65's scare me since garmin will no longer fix the displays. It was also a good dollar or two more than the 89B deal I got even if I put a new 1200 comm in, im still ahead.

EDIT: Didnt know that unit existed, i was thinking GX50 not SL50.
