Have started considering purchasing a twin as my next plane. Big step. I am looking at possibly a Seneca. I am a 350 hour pilot and will complete my IFR training in January. I currently have a Cherokee 180. My typical flights about 50% of the time are at least 2 hours and 25% of the time 3 hours plus mostly around Texas and Oklahoma, but I do have need for travel to both coasts a few times a year. I typically fly 150 hours a year or so. From what I have heard, the cost of ownership for a twin is a bit daunting. Right now, I am considering/looking at a Seneca II. The consideration of the second fan to keep me cool is beginning to be intriguing. Also, a project I am looking at that will last about 2-3 years will require many trips to an island near Honduras and this could be a plus. With the increase in performance, the double fuel burn isn't scaring me away. I guess I am looking for a reality check. Most of the twin pilots I know fly King Air's. My only twin time right now was some Queen Air right seat time back in the mid 80's. I guess the biggest drawback I see to the Seneca right now is that payload with full fuel is about where I am at with the Cherokee and I would desire a bit more payload.
