Today was sunny and warm and my house was full of women playing bridge so after getting some things done to get ready for summer I took the Arrow for a flight to check to see if the lake was open in front of my cottage. On the way there I noticed a column of smoke rising that increased in size as I approached it, staying way too dark to be a brush fire or such. As I got closer I realized that it was a huge fire in the middle of a farm yard and clearly was a big house fully involved. I couldn't see any vehicles or people around but noted that there didn't seem to be any other buildings that would be threatened. I didn't make any calls since I didn't know exactly what the address would be and figured that other farmers in the vicinity would notice it and call the appropriate agency. Has anyone else here seen a house on fire while flying?
