Hi everyone,
(30 hr student pilot) I have an opportunity to buy a 2100hr tt 69 Cherokee 140 with 20 hr over haul on motor and prop, new interior except seats, stock avionics, and a new paint job (not the best, but still new) for $27000. I don't need a loan (house is paid for) and there is a grass airport about ten miles from me that will let me use tie downs for free.
Sounds perfect right?!?
The club I'm in has a fuel injected Cessna 172 that is $45 a month plus $110 hr wet. It's hangared at an airport that has a blacktop runway that's 45 mins away. The great thing about the club is that it is not used that much and there are no daily minimums! If I schedule the plane for a 3 day getaway and only fly an hr each way, I only have to pay for 2 hrs.
I am married with no kids and hate to drive, but love to travel.
I work a weird schedule where I get 6 days off in a row every 3 weeks.
I am really struggling with this decision because, I think, they are both great deals. Without having my license yet, I don't know how I will ultimately be using the plane. Hamburger runs vs vacation
Ideally, I have visions of us getting away almost monthly, however we like going to the out of the way places and flying to small airports that do not have rental cars seems like a pain.
Any thoughts or opinions would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!
