I was hoping folks could share their strategy for getting out of the airplane in the event of an off airport landing.
I was taught to open the door and holding a pinched shoe in the opening before touching down so the door doesn’t close.
I bring this up because I see that the c172 has a lower crash fatality rate that is somewhat attributable to two doors.
This weekend a Beechcraft crashed in NY and flipped and burned killing both occupants. I wonder if a shoe in the door would have helped them get out.
