Morning everyone.
Our plane is now just under 200 hours 'til it hits the magic 2000 smoh. That will probably come in the next year or two. Our mechanic has expressed his opinion that we are very likely to run it "on condition" as it's not making metal, the compressions are good, and it doesn't eat oil.
This got me curious to see how "normal" this situation is. Can anyone share their experiences on running a Lycoming 320 (E2A specifically) past tbo and also what signs you look for in terms of calling it and just doing the overhaul? At this point, would it be worth it for us as a group to put in an engine monitor to maybe help get us to 2500 hours, or is that wishful thinking?
