The STC paperwork that came with our RAM 160 HP upgrade says that for O-320-E3D engines the tachometer must be remarked with:
Currently, our tachometer is a St. Warner P-551-TA unit (factory original?) with only a Green arc from 500-2700 rpm, and Red radial at 2700.
The avionics shop says the dial cannot be removed for repainting because the needle is not designed to be removable.
Do other people simply replace their factory tach with a new one in order to comply with this STC, or perhaps just placard the new ranges rather than remarking?
- Green arc = 2200 - 2650 rpm
- Yellow arc = 2650 - 2700 rpm
- Red radial = 2700
