Hi folks,
I own a Piper Turbo Aztec E 1974 with Atimatic V FD coupled to Aspen Pro PFD1000 working quite great. The problem is that it is tracking about 0.6 miles right of the course in GPSS and about 8 degrees right in HDG mode. Also sometimes the ALT hold is ballooning, and sometimes it doesn't engage!
I was looking to replace it, and the STEC 3100 seems really great but not approved now for the Aztec. The guys at STEC did recommend the 55X but it is a rate based autopilot and I think it will be replaced by the 3100 in the future.
What do you think about the 55x? How much for the cost of the system and installation should I expect? Should I go with it or wait till the 3100 is available for the Aztec?
