This proposed AD requires:
Inspect stabilator horn at 1000 hrs time in service or 100 hrs after effective date of AD and every 500 hrs/3 yrs thereafter or:
Replace stabilator horn every 1000 hrs/10 yrs.

Actually the recurrent inspection requirement of 500 hrs/3yrs is less restrictive than the Piper Service Bulletin 1189 which requires 100 hr recurrent inspection.

Estimated cost for inspection is 12 hrs labor for inspection and about $600 for replacement part.

Some folks think replacing the stock horn with the "Aussie" horn or with the PA-24-400 configuration should/might make the grade as an terminating action although AFAIK the FAA hasn't bought into that opinion and the NPRM doesn't state any terminating action or AMOC.
