So I'm mostly likely going to be leaving my aircraft at a lot of FBO's in the upcoming future, and worrying about the Nosewheel steering on my Twinkie.

Has anyone made a quick disconnect connection for the scissors? Upside downside?

Downside Risk to me is the chance of inducing a shimmy if I create some slop in the system (Not appealing on a 50 year old structure)

But doing nothing probably guarantees sheering the ears of the nose wheel steering. It will just be a matter of when, not if.

The Big Jets I fly do something similar under tow. Airbus bypasses the steering, but Boeing used to disconnect the scissors.
