I did my first real night flight in 11 years. KSQL - KMCC. The airports were a lo harder to spot than I remembered. Could be that I was flying into congested areas so the airport beacon and lights were a lot harder to pick out of a crowd.
I was happy to have my Ipad when ATC was restricting my altitude over a hilly area that I was not extremely familiar with. I flicked on the terrain feature and it turned the terrain that was a factor red for me. It gave me peace of mind to see the red go away as I climbed.
