I have a 1978 PA31-350. The factory ammeter works, but not very well as it seems to not read accurately. I would like to replace it with an Electronics International VA-1-100 (100A full-scale for 50mV which matches the shunts used in my airplane). My question is if the VA-1 will fit in the overhead panel in place of the factory stock original ammeter. Has anyone tried this?
