Dropped off my Dakota for it's 2nd annual since I bought it and looks like it will be ready by Friday. 3 weeks but lots got done over that period. This new shop pays a lot more attention to detail (which is what I wanted) so they found/pointed out A LOT of little things that have been ignored/overlooked over the years as well as some biggies that my last shop never picked up. Some of the top items were...

1. Installed shoulder harness for the rear seats as well as all new front shoulder & lap belts assemblies and belts
2. Found and fixed 3 exhaust leaks at the exhaust manifold
3. Sent entire exhaust system for inspection & repairs
4. Installed freshly OH alternator, through bolt, and bracket
5. Found and fixed several oil leaks
6. Replaced several intake couplings
7. Fixed several lines (oil return) that were chaffed
8. Fixed loose vertical stabilizer bolts
9. Performed several of the recent SBs
10.Found 2 parts of the exhaust heat shroud were non Piper (a&P fabricated) and not quite up to specs so replaced w/ Piper parts
11. Replaced aileron gap seal anti-chaffing Teflon tape
12. Tested all JPI 830 egt/cht probes for proper readings
13. Identified and fixed mixture control not operating 100%

And that's just a few of them. Overall I had about 50+ items that were
identified and fixed.

The great news is the plane and engine is looking strong at just over 3000 TT and 1000 hours since last OH in 2001. Borescope looked great. Compressions were mid to high 70's across the board. Oil analysis shows everything is looking great. Oil consumption is low (2 quarts added in 40 hours). It was big annual in terms of $ BUT I also feel that between my first annual and upgrades I've done to it the plane is finally to my standards and lot's of little stuff that many owners or A&P's may not bother to deal with I did so that adds a peace of mind.

The plan is to pick up the plane and do some local test flying and if all checks out I will be flying my Mom from WI to NJ towards the end of next week so that should be a great adventure/trip.
