Our 74 Six (with factory AC) is eating alternator belts like Halloween candy. In October, the belt broke after showing pretty significant signs of wear. This past Saturday, the belt broke *again* with *no* visible signs of wear-- I took off out of KAVL (on a CAVU day, thankfully) and got an ALT annunicator about 10 minutes later, so I parked it at Clemson and drove home. I don't think this is normal-- in looking back we've had either 4 or 5 belts replaced on the plane since we bought it in May 2014. Has anyone else run into a similar problem? If so, how did you cure it?
