Can anyone advise on the pros/cons of a metal panel or metal overlay for a Dakota? I need to have my shop add a transponder upgrade and ADS-B and was considering getting rid of the black plastic overlays.

There is a shop in California, Avion Research that seems to be in trouble with the FAA for non certified parts... They did a metal panel for a Dakota that is now owned by a member here.

Anyone have a shop they suggest?

I assume that once I go with metal, changing any avionics would be a pain as the holes and cut outs are more permanent at that point.
