The Obama administration and the media are saying that even after the Iranians produce sufficient highly enriched Uranium it will take them years to make a weapon. This exhibits ignorance about the weapon.
There are two kinds of A-Bomb. Enriched Uranium and Plutonium. The Uranium bomb is so simple that it was never tested before it was dropped on Hiroshima. The Plutonium bomb requires some very sophisticated engineering and electronic technology.
Iran is working on the Uranium bomb. The one that we made was just a modified large naval gun that fired one chunk of Uranium down the barrel to another chunk at the other end, thus assembling a critical mass. If they haven't done so already Iran could build one in a few weeks.
