I visited Gatlinburg - Pigeon Forge Airport last weekend. My father and I wanted to take a short day trip and check and Gatlinburg seemed like the perfect place. Climbed to 7500' to clear the mountains and it took us about 50 minutes to make the 84 mile flight. It is a very airport and there is a great aviation museum on the premises. We took about 2 hours to walk through the museum and saw everything from Red Bull's helicopter to P-47 that were flying that day!

Great trip and I would recommend it for anyone in the area.
