Is it possible to replace the flap handle spring part 50111-00, #15 in the diagram:

without removing the handle completely and having to re-rig the flaps? This spring causes the pin #16 on the end of the plunger #11 to engage the ratchet notches giving the 10, 25, and 40 degree flap settings.

It seems like the plunger #11 is held in the handle #59 only by the pin #16? What happens if you drive out the #17 pin (there is a hole in the handle #59 to allow you to do this), and then drive out the #16 pin, can the entire plunger assembly #11 can be pulled out the front of the handle in a way that allows replacement of the spring? What about the button #12 itself, is it threaded onto the plunger?
