FCC is making 121.5 ELT's illegal, including those 406's that also contain 121.5 capability. Civil Air Patrol Search and Rescue members are livid about the deletion of 121.5 for ground teams to use in locally homing in on crash sites.

The ELT manufacturers cannot gear up to provide production and distribution of 406's without auxilliary 121.5 in the two months alloted. Enjoy flying for the two months you have left :-(

P.S. the FAA seems to have been blindsided on this one.
