The evaporator cover on my '72 140 is cracked and in pretty tough shape. I had thought of just replacing it with a new plastic one, but I'm afraid that that one will also meet the same fate - being located in the baggage area where it's prone to be a target for stray "stuff". I was thinking about the possibility of making a replacement out of something like welded wire - sort of a cage of sorts over the air filter. The cover is basically cosmetic. Any thoughts of whether something like that would anger the FAA gods?
