For anyone else who might consider doing the same...

Getting my Dakota dressed up to sell, the cowlings, as with most Cherokees from the 70s and later, is awfully rough. Bad bondo repairs from previous owners, lots of paint cracking/chipping, etc.

I'm having mine redone by a local corvette shop.

Strip and fix all cracks - $1950
New gelcoat - $175
Sand/prime/paint with Imron (including masking and painting of stripes) - $1247
Wet sand and buff - $455
Disassembly/reassembly, painting of loose parts (air intake, landing light, strut covers etc.) - $260

---------------------------

Right at 4000 dollars.

If you were to do the prep work yourself, obviously, you could just about cut this in half, the patching and sanding of said patches being the most labor intensive stuff.
