Crazy question I know. I am looking at buying a 180 that had a prop strike and subesquently the owner removed the engine. I have just done an intial inquiry and have only had a few basic questions answered, so I am not sure if the old engine is sitting around somewhere, but the aircraft is being sold without engine and I am curious where I would be able to find an engine to replace it. I know the more common route is that people have the current engine torn down and rebuilt, if that is not possible, do I just bite the bullet and spend 40k on a new lycoming engine or are there cheaper methods. Do any of these companies that overhaul engines have old engines in stock that are available to purchase? I know trade airplane and ebay sell some..but they are few and far between. Thanks
