I have a carbureted Lycombing 540 in my Dakota 236 with a JPI 700.
The EGTs are as much as 230 in temp differences and settle down to a difference of 80 when the carb heat is full on. I never run more than 1400 EGT and 400 CHT. But sometimes when one cylinder wants to run 1500 and the rest 1300, applying carb heat 1/2 on, will even all 6 EGTs to 1300.
In the summer and even the winter, I adjust mixture to oil temperature reading of 230 max. I heard of people increasing the opening at the bottom of the cowling to increase cooling.
Does this sound strange? Thoughts and opinions would be appreciated.
Thanks :)
