We are planning to go from San Diego to the East Coast in early September with numerous stops along the way. We will go to Detroit and Washington, DC and then down to East Tennessee, Charleston etc. and back the southern route home.

Considering an I-Pad. What software would really help eliminate cockpit clutter and give us the best VFR information. I assume we would need 3G or 4G service to work best.

I see AOPA FlyQ, but it looks like it is only an ap for the IPhone. Would that work on an IPad? This whole trip would be VFR only.

By the way - what are the best GA airports for accommodations and access to DC? Have gone into Dulles, but that was a long time ago when they didn't mind a Cherokee Arrow.

Any recommendations for software and services etc. would be appreciated.
