My Dakota has an avionics master and an aux. When I first got the airplane, I used both - not really understanding the purpose. After I figured it out, I only use the main (top) switch. You have to pull it out, push it up and then it slides back in some.

Recently it has been failing to turn on unless I move it quite purposefully and solidly. Today it came on but then after a minute or so I lost radio power. Toggling it off and on fixed it and it ran fine for the 2 hour flight.

I have an aux switch which I believe is connected in parallel.

Should I be turning both on?

How common is this sort of switch failure?

We don't have an avionics shop on the field, but for just a switch, maybe my regular shop can look at it.

Thoughts?
