Hi guys,
I bought a '79 Archer II several months ago and we just went on our first family cross country this past weekend. Everything went well however the central heat duct (exposed metal runners adjacent to flap lever) got incredibly hot to where I would need to move my right shoe to be comfortable. The cabin heat and defroster were off and moving the little knob in the middle of the runner (to divert the air to the rear) didn't do anything to help dissipate the heat.
The plane does have a relatively new interior. Is this normal? Is there any way to prevent heat from building up in those runners. I would hate for my kids to accidentally touch it or step on in inadvertently - plus it's bothersome to me when flying.
Thanks in advance,
Russell
