Hi everyone, I've been using the last couple days trying to work on my short field landings. When I go full flaps, my approach is very much stabilized at about 78-80mph max. All is looking awesome until I get to the roundout. It seems I tend to 'plop' the plane down vs. a smooth touchdown. Not horrible, but still not pretty.
When I do about the same approach with just 2 notches of flaps, it seems I can grease it on over and and over and actually land shorter. My plane is a 1970 180E.
Any pointers?
...Also, side quest: Outside temp is about 50 degrees F. Oil Temps don't seem to want to climb above 100 degrees indicated either with or without the winterization plate installed. I suspect bad guage or probe... But maybe that's normal for these outside temps?
