I wanted to start a new thread for my 3rd G5 install since I was previously piggybacking in the GTN Software update thread.

I got my plane out of the shop yesterday where we installed a 3rd G5 as a STBY ADI to my G500 system. The original two G5’s are in my Copilots panel as supplemental instruments only. Overall very pleased with the way it turned out. I now have backup navigation info on the Pilots side in case the G500 goes to sleep.

Also part of the project was to turn my old #2 TXPDR (a GTX-33) into an ADS-B compliant GTX-33ES. It worked flawlessly on the way home. And the cool part is that while using #2, my #1, a GTX-345R, still receives and provides ADS-B In info to my panel as well as my portable devices.

We also updated all the software on all units. The new Vnav capability in the GTN is very nice.

Overall, very pleased with the project! Pics to follow.

PS: Oh, and possibly the coolest part of the day, was my first ride ever in a float plane! I know this is a Piper forum, but talk about panel envy. Holy smokes, check this out. What a blast to hop from lake to lake and land and takeoff on water.
