1965 pa 28 140 fuel primer extremely difficult to pull

i see many thoughts on if the primer is even necessary.
looks like the bottom line is YES. use it and DO NOT pump the throttle
primer puts fuel where it needs to be and will not start you down the path to a potential fire as pumping the throttle may.

however the fuel primer is extremely hard to pull.

any thoughts?
