    Trio pro pilot

This is an exercise in semantics. A "Coupled Approach" is described in the AIM Glossary as an autopilot-controlled descent to 50 feet AGL. Yes, the $10,000 (installed) Trio is not approved for a "coupled approach" as it is so described in the AIM, i.e., hands off operation down to 50 feet AGL...

    Autopilot options

Our STC Group company plane is a Cherokee Six 300. All "Hershey bar" wing PA-32s are on our Approved Models List. The Trio can be installed in a PA-32 in about 35 hours time by any A&P. It can be used in IMC, including an approach but is required to be turned off at 500 feet AGL. That is a...

    Autopilot options

The Tri Pro Pilot has a 500 ft. AGL minimum use altitude. There is NO prohibition on using it in IMC down to that point. There is an "Urban Myth" that it can't be used IFR. That's not correct.

    Air Conditioning Condenser PA-32

Ttail & timmc --- thank you for the info. I have e-mailed PowerPacksPlus and will also query an auto retrofit guru.

    Air Conditioning Condenser PA-32

That looks like it might work. Is it in a PA-32 A/C door frame?

    Air Conditioning Condenser PA-32

That's what I would have thought but so far no luck finding the automotive equivalent. The Piper part is 555-457 but I found one other number: 1E-1415C. I Google that and get a Porsche 911 aluminum A/C condenser but the photo os very dissimilar. I am next going to try Vintage air, the guys...

    Air Conditioning Condenser PA-32

This is from a "barn find" airplane that has no internal corrosion but the condenser is heavily corroded, probably because it does not have the alodyne that Piper used on the skin. Pacific Oil Cooler Service says it is not repairable. They can build a new one but they want a DOD budget line...

    Air Conditioning Condenser PA-32

Does anyone know a source for a new or used condenser (Piper Part No. 555-457) for a Cherokee Six?

    Cherokee 6 or Saratoga

I owned a 1975 Cherokee Six 260 with the 7-seat STC for 16 years and my wife and I raised five boys during that time. At sea level the 260 did just fine on a short and rough grass strip in North Carolina. I later moved to California. The 260 really "pooped out" on hot days at high airports in...

    suggestions for tires

Not in California. Thanks to rotten state government, auto fuel and diesel no. 2 cost over $4 per gallon -- but the pay, perks & pensions keep rolling along.

    Honeywell buys TruTrak

The Trio ProPilot is integrated with the G% and the Aspens. The STC Group will be submitting the FAA package for addition to the Approve Avionics list within a couple weeks.

    PA-32 TruTrak

The STC Group experimented with a cable attach system in a PA 32 and found that there was unacceptable loss of fine control due to some servo motion being lost to flexing of the cable. We have reverted to direct attachment of the servos to the ailerons and stabilator in our PA32 STC which is in...

    TruTrak Vision $7,250 Installed

We have done dozens of installations of Trio Pro Pilot autopilots, both in the pre-STC design stage and in customer installations. Our installation is about as straightforward as possible and we tell customers to plan on about 30 to 40 hours to install, test and complete the paperwork. It only...

    TruTrak Vision $7,250 Installed

The STC Group has completed its paperwork to add the PA32s (all, except T-Tails) to the AML. There was a delay since the PA32 design did not work well with the PA32. The test prototype, a 1974 PA32-300, flew just fine with very normal gain settings. As for Trios in 182s, there are about 80 to...

Vortex Generators; why so few use them?

VGs are a far better solution for loss of one engine control than converting to a counter-rotating right engine. They really solve low speed loss of aileron effectiveness. My Twin Comanche flies like a single engine Cherokee. They are sturdy BUT -- ice can pop off some of them costing $100 or...

    TruTrak Vision $7,250 Installed

The STC Group has completed its application to add the PA32s (all, except T-Tail) to its Trio ProPilot Approved Model List and will be submitting within a few days to the Chicago ACO. Expect cost to be $6,250 or thereabouts with 30 or so hours to install by any competent shop.

    PA-28 autopilot STC

Aspen is doing a software update scheduled for Jamuary. After it is tested, Trio Avionics & The STC Group expect to have it available shortly thereafter for our certified Trio "ProPilot" autopilot. We have heard the requests from the Aspen users and have been working on this diligently. Mark...
