Wings and Wheels, Houston Hobby, 6-17-17
It was held at the 1940 Old Terminal museum on the airport. They are doing a great job restoring the old terminal to its former glory. Lots of interesting artifacts and well worth a look see if you are in the Houston area. When I worked at Atlantic Aviation while going to the University of Houston back in the 70's, this terminal was abandoned and in awful shape. They have done wonders with it and it really gives you a sense of how it was back then.
For those of you that shy away from Class B airspace and airports, Hobby is the most GA friendly big airports around. Instead of vectoring me all over town to give commercial aircraft priority, they made them sit on the taxiway while I made my long slow approach. I could almost hear the passengers on Southwest Airlines cussing me for making them sit there. And instead of having to eat jet exhaust third in line for take off, they had me do an intersection take off in front of commercial traffic. Good experience.
