It seems to come down to how safe flying our planes is, or more accurately the perception of that. My wife will fly with me if we are going to a destination that she also wants to go to such as visiting family etc but fails to see the sheer enjoyment of just flying.

Funny part is that she's quite willing to ride along on ancient car tours which frankly are much more dangerous. This came to mind when I heard of a fellow I know well being killed in a wreck in London UK while on the famous London to Brighton tour while driving a 118 year old car.
