Hello folks.
I bought the Whelen Parmetheus PRO PAR36 LED light for my 1972 Cherokee PA-28-180 from Aircraft Spruce. I was super excited to replace the old GE landing light and be done with it. However, my A&P told me that the cooling fins behind the lamp do not make it a Drop-in replacement (no matter what Aircraft Spruce may claim). It may need the A&P to shave the fiberglass cowling, something he is worried about doing since the lower cowl is structural.
What is worse, Aircraft Spruce will not take a return because we "attempted fitment" or whatever that means. So, I am stuck with a 500 dollar lamp and am wondering if my Piper community has seen this problem and whether there is a way out of this pickle?
Thanks,
G
