I'll be starting a cross-country (in the literal sense) on Sunday. We depart KVKX, just southeast of DC, headed to L06 Furnace Creek in Death Valley CA. The point of the trip is to see the country by small plane, and to land at the highest airport in the USA (Leadville, CO KLVX) and also land at the lowest (L06). We'll spend a few days in between in Las Vegas, Death Valley National Park, Reno, & other spots before flying home.

Planned route:
Outbound Day 1 - DC to Topeka KS (pretty much straight line, except slight detour to see the arch in St. Louis)
Outbound Day 2 - Topeka to the Rockies, land in Leadville, then on to Las Vegas

Homebound Day 1 - Reno to Omaha, NE
Homebound Day 2 - Omaha to DC (pretty much straight line)

I've worked all the flight planning, and it's not my first time flying cross country or flying in/around the Rockies. In the COVID era, we're mainly sticking to flying activities - not casinos, high population environments, etc. Any thoughts/suggestions?

Thanks,
Pete
