Why should you be required to use the VOR signal on a VOR approach when the GPS presentation is so much more accruate? For example, see the VOR A at 1H0. Regulations require that you switch the CDI to V/LOC sometim before reaching the FAF. If you don't, the Garmin 430W gives you a message to do so. In this particular case FTZ is many miles away from the field so one dot on the CDI gets you fairly far from the approach course. The VOR, being less precise than the GPS, sometimes leads you away from the magenta line.
It's also interesting that years ago this and other VOR approaches used to be titled "VOR/GPS". Now they're just VOR.
