I disagree. The burden is in them to prove that your method was unacceptable. Just because an alternative exists (in a revised version) does not invalidate previous methods.

The FAA issues edicts on things that must be revised via ADs. For those in part 91 ops, most other things are a suggestion.

If you wonder why the costs of aviation keep spiraling upwards, things like a perception that GA mechanics must constantly spend thousands on updated manuals, to wrench on 50 year old airframes, is among them.

Back to the OP, it is unsurprising (and perhaps, unfortunate) that things are so rigid overseas. I’m told that EASA and CASA are driving forces behind the astronomical costs of GA in other locales.
