I am in the middle of trouble shooting this but good to get some input. Been burning out two starters on the left engine in short order. The first was was due to a start relay that stayed closed.. Exciting indeed...

I now have brand new starter in there and new relay on the left side.

The left engine will seldom turn over if I start the left first. However if I start the right and get the alternator online, the left will start. So that points to a voltage drop in the left side that requires the extra voltage to engage the starter.

So when cranking the battery drops to from 12.7 to 11.5 or so volts so the battery seems fine.

The voltage drop from the positive pole on battery to the starter terminal is 1-3 Volts when I get the starter to crank...

I have tested the resistance/continuity from the engine case to negative pole. Great continuity 0 ohms..

So next I am going to start dividing up the power side for voltage drops along the circuit,. Then the same on the ground side...
Thoughts?
