Has anyone had a Trio Pro-Pilot 2 axis autopilot installed on an older Piper aircraft (I own a 1969, PA28-140)? If so, what was the cost of purchasing the kit and additional parts ie hoses, any harness, etc. Will I need a permanent GPS system (I have a portable AERA 660 in my airplane, no PFD or MFD)? I have seen costs for this autopilot between $2.9K - $5K which would be the Trio Pro-Pilot 2 axis auto pilot kit plus additional parts that may be required. Basically I want to know the total cost of the auto pilot plus parts and install. Also, is electric trim part of the install? I have the old “bow tie,” yoke, can the electric trim be installed on this type of yoke? I am at the early stage of considering purchasing an autopilot to have installed. Like everything else, total cost will be a factor. Thank you for your comments and advice.
