Helping my AP/IA work on a 235. It's been 20 years since he did trim drum bushings. The maintenance manual install/removal procedure assumes you are changing the trim cable. Well, this airplane just had new trim cable installed two years ago. So we are trying to figure out how to change the trim drum bushings, without unwinding the cable. Is it necessary to drill the rivets on the top plate? My IA says that's how they used to do it......clamp the trim cable in a plastic block to keep it from unwinding, and then drill out the rivets and remove the top plate.

Any advice from the group before we start on it this week?
