I've got a broken tach cable in my PA-32-260 (1971). It broke right at the swaged fitting on the engine side. I took the old cable out and measured it a little over 60" so I ordered the 60" standard from Aircraft Spruce (the dimensions are between the ferrule mounting surfaces, not the actual cable length, so it was difficult to judge - so I assumed standard). It arrived today but it is not the same... The tang on the engine side is a little longer, the total length is about 1.125" short, and the direction of winding is opposite (standard is left lay, so my existing must be right lay). The sad part is that I cant't be 100% sure the part that came out is the correct part to start with, so not sure the comparison method is valid.

My parts manual says I should have a 763 916 'tachometer shaft relocation kit' installed (this appears on most PA-32s) and that I should use a 454 312 shaft replacement. In later year PA-32 and PA-32R parts breakdowns, it equates a 454 312 to a PS50044-28. I've got some RFQs out, so we'll see. Skygeek has it for $327. This seems a bit much... when the Spruce version is $28.

Does anyone have experience with this or have any ideas?
