Southern US Trip

Wife and I are looking at a Pre-Christmas flight in Sunny Side Up to Southern California. Planning to spend the first night in Texas and then continue to the west coast. Planning to keep each leg around 4 hours flight time. This will complete our Four US Corners challenge.

We are not in any rush so what "Have to See" places should be on this list?
