A bud has a cracked nose gear retract cylinder.

Suggestions for options for new & used?

I had one break on me after takeoff a few years ago and the only option at the time was new (~$3k!!). I was in Dallas, TX at the time.

The attachment ring on the end of the cylinder cracked and broke off on retract. Felt the bang through the floorboard. Made for an interesting flight with the nosewheel dangling and, not knowing exactly what had failed, an even more interesting few moments getting the gear down/locked for landing (the sea of flashing lights from all the emergency vehicles that showed up didn't help matters! - not that I'm complaining).

I think, even if there was a used option, I would go for new. It's not something I would want to risk.
