Not sure if this should be in the Maintenance section or Cherokee section so we'll start here. I posted introduction and photos recently of a storm-related damaged '68 Cherokee 180 D I purchased from Wentworth Aviation. Briefly, the acft was in hangar in Hickory NC when an EF2 tornado passed through in Oct 2017. While other acft were severely damaged, this one manged to escape with moderate damage to empennage and aft fuselage skin. We have moved the plane to my A&P friend's hangar. Last week the IA came by and discussed the repair plan and we have started work. Here are some shots of the early progress; glad to get things moving... I've rounded up all the control surfaces I need except a RH aileron, p/n 68129-03 or -003 in the current parts catalog. Atlanta Air Exchange is showing availability so we'll be making a trip up there in the days ahead. If anyone here in the southeast has an extra one, let me know. Also making up a list of hardware/fasteners/bushings/bearings, etc. Recommendations for suppliers of that sort of stuff would be appreciated. I've checked places like Aircraft Spruce, SkyGeek and so on. I think I read that Aviall is the supplier for Piper parts, but since I'm not a registered business I can't seem to be able to create an account. Will put up more photos as we move along.
