Helping my IA on an owner assisted Annual (PA28R). Replacing O-rings and sweeps on each landing gear strut. All going well until it came to remove one of the main gear struts. Snap ring OFF, dropped washer, removed air valve, purged most of the hydraulic fluid through a hose connected to the Schrader valve housing ... time now to drop the strut. No go. The bearing is stuck (probably binding on corroded surfaces near the snap ring housing). Tried to 'pound' the strut down through forceful up and down motions. Bearing moved maybe an 1/8". Anyone have ideas on how to persuade the bearing out of the gear assembly tube?
Thanks!
