REM38E vs REM40E in O360-A3A

I was going to pick up some plugs to have on hand, when I realized I didn't know which to get. The engine as overhauled from Lycoming came with the REM38E, and I saw where at least once the plugs were replaced with same. But more recently I found an entry indicating one plug (a bottom plug) was replaced with REM40E. The rest of the entries I can find from recent history just indicate a plug or plugs was replaced, with no part number given. I will see if I can see what is on there now, but if I can't without removing one, I think I'll just wait until the need arises. Might just one plug have been replaced with a 40E because of continual fouling? The 40 is "hotter" but is there that much of a difference between the 38 and the 40? Should I have both on hand?
