One thing I have noticed for a few years now is that when I pass near (within a couple of miles) of a big commercial radio transmitter (50 KW I think) tower I get static in my headset. It still receives OK, just that background static when not receiving. It's there when I transmit but the tower has never commented so I guess they can't hear it. This happens on both of my radios, a King and TKM. Is this common? Is there a simple solution? This tower is within about 4 miles of my home airport so we pass it often though I haven't heard anyone else here comment on it but haven't asked either.
