Polishing windshield?

When my plane was in the shop, it must have been misted with some kind of chemical...I have a spray mist all over the windshield that won’t come off with typical glass cleaner. Running my finger over it, I don’t feel any pitting or anything sitting on the surface. When flying towards the sun, you can barely see out.

What can I use to “polish” it off? Was thinking about headlight polishing kit or similar. Has anyone done this before?

Thanks,
Pete
