Found an interesting problem during our instrument panel work - once we excavated the area around the flap switch, we found turns out that the flap LEVER moves a CABLE which moves a remote SWITCH buried in the panel!

What cannot be seen in a normal inspection is the condition of this cable (see pic) - not much left on the cable in our bird from 2000, .. recommend getting a camera up there to inspect the cable at least every few years for any broken strands.

If anyone has seen this before, would appreciate sharing the repair; it looks like it might be possible to replace the cable itself?
